• Heavy Duty Floating Keensert® Style Key-locking Threaded Inserts – Locking and Non-Locking (KNK, KNKD & KNKDL). Standard Material: Alloy Steel Cadmium Plate.
• NOTE: If a product code (part number) has an “L” (i.e., KNKL0256J) it’s a Self-locking floating Keensert®. Self-locking Floating Keenserts® are often treated with dry-film lubricant to make them easier to install. This results in them having a darker appearance compared to their non-locking counterparts, which do not have an L in their part numbers (i.e., KNK0256J-MF vs KNKL0256J-MF).

• Inch Sizes: 2-56 through 8-32 (Miniature KNK) and 10-24 through 1/2-20 (Heavy Duty KNK & KNKD).
• Materials: 303 CRES Stainless Steel and 4140 Alloy Steel are standard. Available for special order in A286 Stainless Steel.
• Standard Finishes: Passivated Corrosion Resistant Stainless Steel; Cadmium Plated Alloy Steel.

Floating Keenserts®, also known as floating key-locking threaded inserts, are engineered to compensate for thread misalignment. Unlike standard key-locking inserts, these inserts feature an internal bushing (an inner floating nut element) that “floats” within the outer housing, since their internal thread portions are not fixed rigidly to the outer shell—enabling the threads to self-align during fastener installation. This feature makes them ideal for applications involving multiple aligned holes or thermal expansion, where traditional rigid inserts would risk thread binding or misfit.

Automatic misalignment compensation:

• From .015”, for size 2-56, up to .040”, for size #10 and larger.
